It's all right to be little bitty.....cupcake of course!

Cupcakes are certainly a cake in small form, a personal serving size. You can also wear them, as seen by these very cute Robeez shoes which can be purchased on Zappos for a mere $42.95! I can't remember the time I spent that much on shoes for myself!

National Lumpy Rug Day

I know I do not have any lumpy rugs. Not sure what the origin is of this day but if you have a lumpy rug, toss it out and get a new one!

The Orchard in progress.....

I have my master plan of developing my orchard and Phase One was trimming back the wall of Evergreens. I am hoping to work in the next phase this week which is moving some Blueberry bushes and getting bricks from my parents for the bench seat garden that will view the grape arbor. I have to promote Acer Gardens for helping me see the potential of my current gardens. Bill spent 30 minutes with me drawing out ideas and I did not even spend any money there! The plants they have are wonderful and I really wanted the peony tree, of course I could not think of one spot to put it in!

Once you start a garden, you know that it is in constant transition, what works one year does not necessarily work the next. Right now I am finally realizing that what you would love to have(like what is seen here) is not what you can have in the areas you do have! Does that make sense? For reference White Flower Farm is always a good help. Especially figuring out what the deer won't eat!

The cupcake craze continues.....

More stuff for cupcakes. Let's say you made a bunch of cupcakes to go to a party, how the heck do you transport them neatly instead of using a gift box? Check out The Cupcake Courier which can carry up to 36 cupcakes! Would not want to be at that child's party.......

We got the wood chipper last night, only 5 years old and in great condition! This will be a well used piece of machinery in our yard!

I am always looking for something unique as a gift, handmade seems to be the way to go. Etsy has all of this and most one of a kind items. This past Christmas I found a handbag with a Border Collie pattern design that she loves! I may have to borrow it.......

Cupcake craze.....

I love cupcakes! I have one cookbook, The Artful Cupcake which has simple designs and recipes. My friend Monique shared with me Hello, cupcake! which is a new cookbook that is the grand daddy of designs! If you want to see unique recipes, check out the Cupcake Bakeshop where they have a wasabi white chocolate cupcake with plum sake filling that looks soooooooo good!

There is nothing like getting something for free, someones junk is another persons treasure. Freecycle.org in my opinion is better than Craig's list as it is only items listed for free. You can pinpoint an area group near you, post wanted or offer items and find some very intersting things. You do have to be quick to respond as most items are taken promptly. You never know...we posted for a woodchipper and will be looking at one this week! That's money I can spend on my Orchard!

I started volunteering my time when I was a member on the Clinton Shellfish Commission and recreated oyster beds in the Indian River. Now I am on ZBA in Haddam and contribute to a few local charities. I wanted to offer something beyond my local area and had seen a blurb on The Today Show about Kiva which you lend money to entrepreneurs who start business such as cattle farms or Vegetable stands and they pay you back. I love the fact you can donate $25, get paid back then lend the money again, probably the hardest working $25 I have donated!

My first Post!!!!

This is my first posting! Just a little FYI about what I plan to do.
1. I love to surf the web and find interesting web sites which I will post.
2. We are in the process of building a master plan for our home garden/orchard and will also update on this as I go along.
3. I am also active within my town of Haddam, on ZBA as a board member and in the process of developing a few fundraiser for local charities.
4. We(as a family)have a crazy Border Collie(Hana), which if anyone owns this breed knows that it is normal. I will be updating about her antics and the drama involved with having an infant and this breed.
5. Finally just the daily "well that was interesting" posts.

More to come I am sure.
