It's Aloha Friday

Oh my goodness it is Friday. I won't bother posting a question about Valentine's Day, seems to be the topic about right now. And let's just stay away from politics, which leads me to food. After all, it is Champagne Food Friday at my blog. My parents are in Hawaii for their yearly trip so the question will be related. Here we go!

Have you ever eaten a Hawaiian pineapple?

They do have a completely different taste from Costa Rica version . I lived there for five years and ate a lot of pineapple. They do not grow as much out there as they use to, land issue of course.

Yes I have! When I was in 5th grade we went to Hawaii to the Dole pineapple plant. I have never had another one as amazing as that one - never!

Not certain which kind we have here (probably Costa Rican) but I love to cook w/ pineapple & of course, to eat it fresh. Yummm.

Try pork tacos w/ pineapple salsa. Cut up pork (I typically use pork chops) & fry in pan. Then add equal amounts of cut up papya & pineapple. Cook a little longer. Then place about 1/3 C on fajita size flour tortilla. Add little bit of Monterey jack cheese. Swipe w/ melted butter & heat in oven until lightly browned on top. My son loves to eat them cold too!

I don't think I knew the difference before now. I will have to be on the lookout.

Yes, but I think the best part was being in Hawaii while eating it. I love fruits that are picked at the perfect time... not too early for shipping purposes, but pineapples seem to travel pretty well. Do the one's from the two different places taste different? I never thought about that!
