Flag Cake


One of my favorite cakes to make for 4th of July. This recipe was Barefoot Contessa, which I had to modify the frosting, not because I did not have the ingredients, but due to it seemed a little too extreme. The frosting called for 4 sticks of butter, two blocks cream cheese and two boxes of confectioners sugar. I used two sticks of butter, 2 blocks of cream cheese and one box of sugar. It seemed to be just right, the cake was practically gone, with people going for seconds. I also used strawberries instead of raspberries. Strawberries are in season and raspberries are super expensive right now. I think it came out just fine.
