Snow the Bugaboo Version - Part One

Snow! Snow! Come out in the Snow!
Snow! Snow! Just look at the snow!
Come out! Come Out! Come out in the Snow!

I want to know if you like snow.
Do you like it? Yes or no?
Oh yes! Oh yes! I do like Snow!
Do you like it in your face?
Yes I like it any place!

What is snow? We do not know.
But snow is lots of fun, we know.
What makes it snow? We do not know.
But now is fun to dig and throw.

Snow is good for me and you.
For men and women. horses too.
Snow is good it makes you slide.
It lets you give your dog a ride.

Champagne Food Friday

Last Friday I made the Pumpkin Sandwich Cake and I only used half of the pumpkin I had. So what do you do with the left over? Make muffins of course. Searching the WWW for a recipe, I happen to come across my favorite cooking blog, Smitten Kitchen which had what looked to be an easy recipe and visually appealing, makes a difference in trying it out.

Here is my picture of the finished product which looked pretty much exactly what Smitten Kitchen's picture is, and of course they taste so good! My husband has this thing where he thinks most breads and muffins cannot be just simple, has to add raisins or nuts of some sort. So of course his suggestions was to add raisins, I am not too into raisins and my mother pointed out it is extra sugar not needed. But if you were to add them, try the golden raisins instead, much milder.

Counting the days

Domino is just itching to get outside! She hangs out in the greenhouse during the day, lounging on a pillow watching the birds and squirrels at the feeder. Every once in a while she meows to come in and take a break but will spend most of the daylight in this space! She will have to wait until spring before I put her out, and limited amount of time. We have had several coyotes in the area, even sited one last week(thought it was a fox but convinced now it is a coyote) when I was at my in-laws picking my daughter up, walked around their house up the stairs to the driveway and ten feet away from me!

Two days of shower - Part Two

Here is part two of my two days of baby showers. This is Suzanne's shower, my girlfriend who is due in about 6 weeks with her second child. Luckily I was able to carry over a lot from the first shower to this one.

Here is where I started with all of the cupcakes. I made them last Friday night, silly me decided to try a new recipe which was for a Devil's Food Cupcake. I figured I had made the cake before, the cupcake looked even easier. Bad decision! I made a double batch thinking I would get 36 cupcakes, I needed to make around 50. Well this recipe only made twenty and I was running out of Cocoa, at 9:30pm at night, I could have called my in-laws to see if they had any, instead I decided to go back to my standby recipe. Should have stayed with that one. I still was short about 15 cupcakes so I had to make another batch the next morning, and have my mother-in-law buy some cocoa for me. Besides my dog swiping two off the table as fast as she could and my pastry bag exploding on Monday morning trying to decorate the last cupcakes, all went well, and they tasted good!

Domino had a great time with the ribbons and the paper, such a social cat!

Here is Suzanne and the girl's helping her with her gifts!

Two days of shower - Part One

I was involved with two baby showers, one on Sunday and the other yesterday. I will share some pictures from both starting with my Sister-in-law's baby shower. She is expecting a girl in about 8 weeks and we themed the shower with her colors of lavender and green. We rented a house that is a part of my church, perfect size and had the chairs and tables for us to use. To make it simple and convenient, the food was finger food and nothing that needed to be heated.

Here is Melissa, who co-hosted the shower with me in the lavender sweater.

Here are the cupcakes I made, made enough for both showers, extra for the mom's to take home and some of the guys were playing cards at my house. They were chocoate with buttercream icing, yum! My mom offered up all fo the cake plates, lucky me!

These were the favors we gave out. I made meringue cookies dipped in chocolate and put four in a box. I had to start making these a week in advance and made 257! I got the technique down with the piping bag after the first batch.

Here is Deb, my Sister-in-law enjoying her time.

Aunty Deb and Bugaboo Girl, she was a very good helper!

Monday Knits

Sometime projects don't come out the way you intended them to. This was an experiment for my daughter, felting a hat can be tricky. This round of felting did not seem to want to shrink to the Bugaboo Girl's head size, so her Aunty Melissa got the hat!
