We match!

I hardly get to have my daughter wear a dress. We took this opportunity when we had a visit with the Great Grandma this past week. Of course my daughter had to have Chloe wear the match dress and come on the visit.

Booboo kitty and Derek Jeter

My daughter has two pictures of Derek Jeter she leaves on her table. One at bat and the other in the field. The other day, she wanted to take her picture of Derek at bat to church to show it to the Sunday school and her teacher Miss Sarah. On the way to church, she asked "Why is Derek Jeter wearing a boot?" I explained it was called a shin guard, like a knee pad, used when he is at bat to protect his ankle if the ball hist him. I could see she was taking all of that info in and quiet for a moment. She then proceeded to say "I could give him booboo kitty, that would make is ankle feel better!". Booboo kitty is her freezer gel pack shaped like a kitty, used of course in any emergency for her or her stuffed friends. How generous of her to share it with Derek......

What to do with leftovers

I had some cement left over from my rock wall. Did not want to waste it so we grabbed some plastic berry containers, poured it in and set some stepping stones on top. I also did a few hand prints of my daughter. No waste here on this wall!

Rock wall update - The home stretch

We finished building the wall and the seat, and my husband used the tractor to fill it in with dirt and compost. Now I have to spread it out, water it down and clean up the cement off of the wall. Thank goodness I had the help of my father-in-law who has built many walls. What should have been about an hour took about 6 hours due to rebuilding a side to make the seat level. It is sloped to the topography of the land which makes one side of the wall higher than the other. Then I just have to figure out what I will plant in it, that will probably take longer than the wall!

Tis' the season......Zucchini Bread Recipe - Well deserved re-post!

Get your pen and paper out, this is a good one! My mom gave me this recipe and I love it. You know it is good when you do not even need to put any butter on it! It freezes well and it makes two loafs.

4 Eggs
2 cups of Sugar
1 cup Vegetable oil(You can substitute applesauce but it is not the same)
1 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 cups of flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
3 cups unpeeled grated zucchini

Set oven to 350 degrees. Beat eggs gradually alternating sugar and oil. Add vanilla and beat. Combine all dry ingredients together and add gradually to cream mixture. Add grated zucchini. Grease and flour two loaf pans. Bake for 55-60 minutes.

Enjoy!

Phase one of the wall

Do you think it is easy to build a stone wall? Think again since you have to fit each stone just right. Since this part of the wall I will be placing two 4 ft granite slabs for a seat on top, it is even more complex. We cemented all of the top stones on the wall and filled in the back of some holes. Then we managed to get half of the seat wall done, this was from 9am to 4pm, and entertaining my daughter! I am hoping to get this done in tow days, then filling in with soil to plant. We're on the home stretch!
