Pasta does not have to be plain in order for kids to like it. In fact, pasta can have even more nutritional value than before. But of course you do not have to tell your kids this, they may just like it for the taste and never know they are getting more from it. Ronzoni Smart Taste looks and tastes like traditional pasta, and now is an excellent source of fiber, calcium and Vitamin D.
I wanted to put the pasta to the taste test with my daughter. I figured I would add a few ingredients she like and one new one to get her to try. I sauteed shrimp in garlic with some cherry tomatoes. These ingredients she likes and will eat. I then wanted to try some arugula in it, something she has not eaten before and may be a whole texture issue there. I cooked the Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta according to the directions, adding it to my sauteed ingredients to merge all of the flavors. Plated it and added some Parmesan cheese on top. My hope was my daughter would just gobble everything up, not questioning any of the ingredients. The end result was surprising.......she immediately started diving in to her meal, eating all of the pasta, all of the tomatoes and shrimp and did ask what the "green thing that looks like seaweed" was but proceeded to eat it all! What was funny was she also stated several times she loved the pasta.......wow! I cannot say she has said this before to my other pasta I have offered. In fact, most of the time she did not finish the other pasta where as she gobbled up all of the Ronzoni Smart Taste pasta.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, less than 60 percent of children age three to five get enough calcium, and the numbers decline as kids get older. Having Ronzoni Smart Taste pasta for dinner gives the nutrition they need and does not sacrifice it for taste.
