Bitterweet Chocolate and Pear Cake

I needed a desert...something different......something with pears since I had about a half dozen ripe pears to use before they go bad. I did a Google search and should have know what web site came up.......Smitten Kitchen of course! A bittersweet chocolate and Pear Cake.....it looked easy and outstanding!

The one process in the recipe that was new to me was browning butter, it was not hard at all. Have faith in her directions as you question sprinkling the pears and chocolates on top and not mixing it in. In the end, it came out perfect and was enjoyed by all! I served it with vanilla ice cream......oh so good!

Oxiclean to the Rescue!

If you have a kid you deal with dirt. From an infant having pureed peas smashed into a white onsie, a toddler finger painting her rendition of what the beach looks like in the winter and just having grass stains all summer long playing sports. If we had to buy new clothes for every stain that did not come out, I would be broke! This is why I rely on Oxiclean to help me make my laundry withstand another day of stains.

OxiClean announced two new products to add to the stain-fighting arsenal: OxiClean Max Force Power Paks and the Max Force Gel Stick Pre-Treater. You can use the Power Paks to give any load of laundry – whites and colors both – a boost, without dealing with messy liquids or powders. The Gel Stick Pre-Treater works best on tough stains – even ones that set-in on clothes for a week! Just rub the gel into the fabric and let it sit for a few minutes before throwing it into a normal load of laundry.
I tried the power packs on my sock/towel load, it brightened them up and was super easy to use instead of measuring from the bulky box. My favorite product hands down is the Max Force Gel Stick! I generally do not soak things immediately and this where the stains win. I left the Max Force Gel Stick right on my washing machine and made it easy for me to use as needed. I generally do laundry every three days. I used the gel stick on pasta sauce, rubbed it on, let it sit until laundry day to of course forget about that stain. When I did the laundry, the stain was gone!
Both products are being introduced this month, watch for them and add them to your daily laundry routine.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of OxiClean and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Big hungry caterpillar

Can you tell me what this is? I saw this caterpillar in St. John and it was the size of an adult finger! It also had quite the appetite where it was munching on all of the plumeria leaves it could get to! Bright colors to keep the birds away would hope the end result was a beautiful butterfly.
