As I am outside picking up my newspaper that is blowing across my yard due to the delivery person not placing it in my box, I found the front page here stating that my town, Haddam, has the highest percentage of census return rate, 85%. Wow....who would have thought. The national average is 73% so we are even above national average. I will be curious to see what the final percentage is since there is a week left. Did you fill out your census? How is your town doing in return rate?

Just a quick update on my personal computer. I could not fix it myself so I am now getting a little help from an IT expert, much needed. My only concern is the picture files! Hopefully the can clean it up and save the pictures, the computer I could care less about. Once I get the computer back, I will start pictures again making the decision of where to store them. I am thinking I will burn a disc of all the pictures I have for records, so as not to jeopardize them again. Lesson learned.

I have gone without a haircut since last September......maybe longer. I am sick of just long hair, no style or manageability. I am going to call for a haircut when I go into work and hopefully get an appointment during lunch time. I want to cut at least 4 inches off, pretty drastic for me. It grows back pretty quick and summer is coming. I am sure my husband is going to be in shock when he comes home tonight and the "short" comment will come out. Granted it will not be short since four inches still is below the shoulder! It is just the guy thing with long hair.

This Sunday is the March of Dimes March for Babies. This will be my third year doing the march and this year we have a team, my sister-n-law and I with our children. We will be marching to celebrate the coming arrival of our niece who is due in June and hopefully will be joining us for next year's march.
Stop by our web page here and checkout our goals and why this organization is so important.

I love simple cookie recipes. My husband is a traditionalist when it comes to cookies, his favorite are my oatmeal raisin and ginger snap. I always like to try new recipes and when I do, I cannot tell him or he will always go back to those two cookies.
Opening Day at Yankee Stadium, cold, luck to get to 50 degrees, rain showers, just plain raw. I choose not to go on this day because the weather is always questionable. Usually it is a guys game where they grill in the parking lot for lunch and go to dinner at Arthur Avenue, one of our favorite Restaurants. My contribution was making cookies. I decided not to tell my husband and made Mexican Hot Chocolate Cookies, a recipe that was in the Martha Stewart Food book last month. I tweaked the recipe a little bit by adding Cayenne Pepper to the recipe and also in the exterior rolling of the cookies, they did not add it and also used Chili powder. My daughter wanted to help, I had to explain to her that she had to be very careful rolling the dough and also putter the mixture on the outside, not eye contact with cayenne pepper. She did very good, and we made about 40 cookies. She wanted to try one and I had a glass of milk for her ready. The cookie has a little heat on the backside and is very tasty, but my daughter definitely drank the whole glass of milk!
When my husband tried them, he was surprised and did like them. Perfect for a cold weather day game treat to put a little heat in you.
