Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Brown Rice

Last week my daughter went for her 3 year old checkup at her Doctor and in preparing her for her visit I asked her to think of a question she wanted to ask.  Watching her face, she was definitely mulling it over on the right question.  She came up with "How can you run faster and jump higher?".  That was a great question and I knew what the answer would be.  During the visit, her Doctor asked several her questions, one being what her favorite food was.  The answer has been the same for over a year now, Salmon and brown rice!  I think the Doctor was a little taken back with her answer as it was not grilled cheese or hot dogs.  When it came to answering my daughter's question, it was "By continuing to eat the good foods you are eating, playing outside and a good night sleep!"  That was all she needed to hear.

I love brown rice and rarely serve white rice anymore.  Uncle Ben's has developed a few types of whole grain brown rice depending on cook time and meal being prepared.  There is the Natural Whole Grain Brown Rice with a cook time of 40 minutes, Fast & Natural Brown Rice and Boil-in-Bag Whole Grain Brown Rice which both ready within 10 minutes!  Serving whole grain brown rice has many health benefits like iron, fiber and just 1 cup of whole grain brown rice meets daily grain requirements.

Here is my daughter's favorite meal of Salmon and brown rice, with a salad on the side I can feel content I am giving her a healthy meal to give her the ability to run faster and jump higher.

Uncle Ben's has also developed some recipes you can try this Summer, adding a new twist on the use of brown rice such as Tex Mex Rice and Shrimp, Corn and Lime;Chicken, Apple and Walnut Brown Rice Salad and one of my favorites is Whole Grain Chicken Curry in a hurry which I added shrimp to.  Thanks to Uncle Ben's, I can now make a choice of which brown rice to use depending on my time available and meal preparation.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Uncle Ben's and received samples to facilitate my candid review.  Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Apple Bottoms Clothing

I think my daughter has more clothes than I do, at least new clothing!  I find myself doing a lot more laundry since she seems to change clothes three times in a day from Pajamas, play clothes to something she may wear out and about.  Now I get to throw a new curve ball into the equation where she has started Nursery School.  She is just starting to get into the age where she gives an opinion on what she wants to wear.  Fine with me as long as it is not shorts in a snow storm!  The challenge is finding clothes that not only make our kids look clean and presentable, but clothes that the kids like and want to wear.  Time is also an issue to go out and shop for clothing.  I do not have a full time job, although it seems like it with all of the activities I have and finding the time to shop for me and my daughter can be limited.

Mom Select recently was given the opportunity to check out Apple Bottoms, outfits by the children's clothing company of the Parigi Group.  I recognized the company from the Puma brand, something I remember as a kid having their sneakers.  The have clothing under different brands and age groups.  Apple Bottoms are for my daughter's age group and they are soooo cute!  As you can see in the picture, I received a pair of jeans with diamond pattern on the back pockets and a studded front pocket.  The shirt is short sleeve green and pink plaid(love the colors) and has a white undershirt attached underneath.  I cannot wait for my daughter to wear this on her first day of school this fall!  The quality is very good, the jeans are not thin and I love the fact the shirt has the under shirt with it.  My daughter was just excited to get this and of course was ready to wear it right away!
Mom Select has also given me a great opportunity for you to win an outfit!!! I have a girls 3 piece outfit size 3-6 months for a giveaway, as shown in the above picture.  Enter by posting a comment what your favorite brand is from the Parigi Group.  A random winner will be chosen on June 30th and posted on this blog.  Entries must be located in the continental United States and contact me within 48 hours by email with complete shipping information.

The NEW big project

I had two evergreen shrubs here that were four feet tall and almost 3 feet wide each!  I had been bugging my husband for 10 years to take them out since they were so old and blocked the windows.  I finally got my wish and now I have a fresh slate to start off with, and a lot of work!
